How to become a member

Why do I need a membership?

You need a membership to access certain areas of the website. The membership fee allows
me to keep the website completely free of advertising and concentrate on providing content.
Important Note: All contests that appear within the Canada Sweepstakes website are
available free of charge on the internet. Each contest can be found on the website of the company
sponsoring any given contest. CanadaSweepstakes.com charges a membership fee to offset the costs
of running it's own website, not to access another company's website.

How is this site different from other "free" sites that I've seen?

This site is very different. A quick look at the winners list will show you that.

What are the benefits of having a membership?

When you have a membership, you will have full access to all areas of the website. These areas will be
free of all banner advertising, text advertising and pop-ups/pop-unders. You will be able to access all of
the main sweepstakes listings (internet contests, snail mail contests and regional contests), have full
use of the interactive features such as "My Contests" and an integrated UPC database, use of the member
forum and more.  I do not offer an automated entry service nor do I condone such practices.

What is the Canada Sweepstakes Forum?

The Canada Sweepstakes Forum is a thriving community full of people who share a common interest.
We share tips and hints with each other, as well as offer advice and support, to help make everyone
as successful at this hobby as they can possibly be. It is a place to go to ask questions and find help
with anything related to contesting. Think of it as a club as well as a 1-800 # . You'll get answers to any
of your questions almost immediately. It has a question area, a discussion area, a winners area, a
contest listing/freebies area, a trading post and more.

What does a new membership cost?

The current membership rates as of March 2006 are as follows:

New Memberships are $5 Cdn per month.
You can sign up for: three months ($15), six months ($30) or 1 year ($60)

There is also a one-time account set-up fee of $5 Cdn (waived for one year subscription). This charge
only applies to new accounts being set-up or to expired accounts that need to be reactivated. Existing
members who renew their memberships before they expire are not subject to this fee.

How do I pay for my membership?

Accepted methods of payment are currently through PayPal for credit cards, HyperWallet , Interac Email
Money Order through online banking, Postal Money Order or Personal Cheque. Please note that there is
an additional $5 service charge for new accounts if you wish to pay by personal cheque and a service
charge if you choose to pay by Paypal or Hyperwallet. There are no service charges if you pay by Interac
Email Money Order or Postal Money Order.

Can I try things out first before deciding if I want to become a member?

I used to offer a free-trial but due to excessive abuse it is no longer offered. I would be more than happy
to put you in contact with some existing members if you have any questions. Or have a look at
what some of the members have to say about being a member on our Testimonial page.

What if I pay for a membership and then change my mind?

I'm sorry but memberships are non-refundable. There are no exceptions.

How do I become a member?

You fill out an application form. Memberships are limited. If your membership is approved you will be
sent information on how to finalize the membership process and make your payment. If I am not
currently accepting applications, you will be notified of this and offered a place on the waiting list or told
to check back at a certain date.
